What is concrete resurfacing?
Concrete resurfacing is a cement based coating that is applied over the top of an existing concrete slab in a very thin layer. Coming in a large variety of colours, concrete resurfacing is up to 3 times stronger than cement that will not only last for many years, it also looks amazing.
Is my concrete eligible for resurfacing?
You’d be surprised that a majority of concrete slabs are eligible for resurfacing. As long as the slab has no visible movement (i.e. separation of pieces), your concrete is probably eligible for resurfacing.
My driveway is cracked. Can I resurface it?
Cracks that are 0-2mm should be fine with resurfacing. Any cracks that are larger than this may need to be assessed to see if they will affect the resurfacing.
How is concrete resurfacing better than replacing concrete?
Concrete resurfacing generally comes in at around 70% cheaper than laying a new slab. It also takes a quarter of the time it would take to rip out and replace a new slab, with a lot less mess.
How much does resurfacing cost?
Cost can vary depending on the condition of the slab, although generally it can come in at around $50 per square metre. New slabs or slabs that are in very good condition can come in cheaper. Slabs in poorer condition that are salvageable can come in more expensive.
How long does it last?
Concrete resurfacing generally lasts 15 – 20 years, although if you seal your resurfaced concrete every few years it should last 20 plus years.
Is concrete resurfacing rough on your feet?
Due to the flexibility of different ways you can resurface, you can have a smooth finish all the way up to an extra gritty finish for wet and slippery areas.
